WE NEED OUR PRAYER WARRIORS TO GO TO BATTLE! During all 4 services yesterday the upcoming Africa teams were commissioned. This is a nice way for the church to see those that are going. And it is also a reminder for the church to PRAY for those teams. The following are some specific ways you can pray:
1. Continued guidance for those making decisions regarding the teams and
construction both here (Pastor Dave, Dan Jacobs, Jamie Lengacher, Steve Henry)
and in Africa (Mwangi, Staci Wells, Margie Helmuth, Jim Vanderhoof)
2. Traveling safety both in flights and especially ground transportation once the
teams arrive in Kenya.
3. Gifts and tools for construction will be taken by various team members. We pray that they make it to Kenya with the teams
4. Families that are left behind. Many times it is much harder to stay home than to go!
5. Preparations. Pray that each team member will remember to take time to not only physically prepare to go but also spiritually prepare.
6. For the babies! These precious little ones whom God loved so much that he motivated a church half way around the world to come to their aid. We want to be able to continue to bring them to full healthy lives, to find Kenyan families to adopt them and to finish the center so more babies can be saved!
As Pastor Dave shared yesterday, we are battling for Generation Next to come to know Jesus as their personal savior. When Jesus was on this earth he reached those who didn't know him thru his great love and compassion. In the same way we have great love and compassion for not only the babies at the center but for the community and country where they live. It would be awesome if EVERY PERSON in our church were able to go hold the babies in person. But what would be even MORE awesome is if EVERY PERSON in our church would spend time in prayer for the babies. Would you consider it today?

Michelle's ticket

The youngest member of our team was Michelle Pippenger. She was traveling alone to Kenya while the rest of her family went to Mexico on a mission trip. When we started checking in all was going well until it came to Michelle. The airline representative checking her in said she was not booked on that flight! Thinking there must be a mistake, she pulled out her itinerary. There was, but not on the part of the airline. Michelle had been booked on an earlier flight and this flight was completely booked! The reality sunk in fast - someone was going to have to stay back and take a later flight and it wasn't going to be Michelle! The airline representative was incredibly nice and before we even had a chance to pray about it, he had his assistant working on getting Michelle on that plane. She had to make several phone calls but was finally able to find a seat. Michelle had her first miracle before we even left Chicago!

Moses - My Story

May 24, 2006

Baby Moses Kibet came to live at the baby center after being picked from a river bank on the day of his birth! He was then taken to PGH. Because of the circumstances of his birth - what his name should be was obvious to all! Soon after coming to the baby center though, Moses developed a severe case of pneumonia and had to be taken to Tenwek Hospital. He was there for a month and came close to death several times.  Missionary Melody Dearmon stayed by his side.  All of the doctors agreed that it was only by God's healing that Moses (now lovingly called "Mo Mo" is still with us today. There is no doubt about his health now. You have only to look at his chubby cheeks and beautiful smile!

Simon - September 2007

Simon had been at the baby center for just about a month when Jamie & Dan visited there in September 2007. He was around 7 months old. Simon was such a cutie and seemed to be adjusting well to his new home.

Joshua - September 2007

Joshua arrived at the baby center about one month before Jamie visited there in September. He is a happy smiley little guy! Please pray for a mom and dad to be called by God to adopt Joshua!

Tenwek Hospital

Tenwek Hospital is a mission hospital in the Bomet region that is a subsdiary of the Africa Gospel Church in cooperation with World Gospel Mission. Many of NMC's work teams have visited this hospital and met several of the missionaries that work there. They were all impressed with the level of care and compassion shown to the patients. Dr. Ernest Steury started the hospital in 1935. He was from Berne, Indiana. It has grown from a 35 bed hospital to a 300 bed referral center. They also have a Community Health Department and Development Department as well as a nursing school. When Dr. Steury first came to the area to set up his surgery practice the locals were hesitant. His break thru came when a local man asked him to help their cow who was having trouble delivering a calf. Although Dr. Steury felt unqualified he went to see if he could help. The calf was born healthy and Dr. Steury soon had several human patients! This hospital is the one that the baby center takes any seriously ill babies to. The baby center's full time nurse, Priscilla, was also trained here.

Peter - March 2007

Peter was about 7 months old when the work team from NMC came to Kenya in March 2007. These pictures were taken by Kay Miller and Jolinda Lengacher. The picture to the right is Bernie Lambright holding Peter.

NMC Work Team #5

This team led by Jamie & Jolinda Lengacher arrived in Africa on March 16, 2007. The members of the team were: Bev & Bernie Lambright, Stacey Seitz, Verle Hochstetler, Nancy Nettrour, Kay Miller, Mike & Sharon Thompson, Peggy & Robby Bearss and Michelle Pippenger. This team was determined to help Bill finish the next phase of the baby center as he & Melody were leaving Kenya within the next month. Again there was a lot of painting to be done and the final water tower to build. The ladies attended the ladies meeting and helped with Sunday School. Of course a big highlight of the week was the time spent with the babies. They were now housed in the section of the building that the last team helped finish. There were 24 babies in all living there at the time. The babies especially enjoyed being taken outside to play. Again, this team came home on March 31st with a passion for the sweet little babies in an orphanage in Kenya. And a strong desire to see God's work continue and to increase the amount of babies that the orphanage can help survive. And not only survive but thrive!

NMC Work Team #4

On October 13th, 2006 Tom & Terry Richmond led a group back to the baby center. The team members were: Al & Alta Molebash, Jan Yoder, Jamie, Jolinda, Monica & Brittany Lengacher, Ken & Cathy Nipper and Dan Jacobs. This team was especially excited because this time there were babies living in the duplex! A full work schedule of painting, laundry, electrical, roofing and plastering walls was intermitted with time spent holding, feeding and loving 15 little babies. They also attended the Ladies Meeting as well as helping with the Street Kids Ministry in Nakuru and the local Sunday School. This team had a hard time leaving the babies but returned on October 28th with a renewed urgency to finish the baby center so more babies will find a loving home.
