Faith has a new home

Faith was picked up to come to the baby center at the same time as another little girl. When they arrived to pick them up though they realized that they had two very sick little girls. In fact, they did not even bring them back to the baby center but took them straight to the hospital. The other baby died at the hospital but with much concentrated effort (and lots of prayer), Faith survived. She still was very ill though and it was later determined that she had cerebral palsy. As a baby center that focuses on adoption, we were not planning on taking any children with long-term health problems. Faith was so tiny and vulnerable though and no one wanted to send her away. At the baby center Faith grew and was able to do many things doctors thought she would never do. They took her off the feeding tube and she learned to eat on her own. She was able to somewhat follow voices with her eyes. She was even learning to roll over. Recently one of the missionaries was able to get a wheelchair for her so that it was easier for her to be taken for physical therapy and for her to just feel more involved in the actions of the other kids. The social worker at the baby center heard of a place in Nairobi that took care of kids with disabilities. It was started by Mother Theresa. Irene determined that this would be a good place for Faith to continue to receive the care she needed. We will all miss her, but pray that God will continue to prompt those who will now take care of her to give her all the love and support she has become accustomed to.
